WOYW-D Wednesday

Hi all,  I got your attention, didn't I??

I know this is not the usual thing you expect to see on    What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday?  
But, does a "hubby" count?  This wonderful man is doing the very last bit to finish my craft room!  It is a track light with adjustable spot-lights. 
The things on my desk are some buttons I am sorting, and work tools for the light.

My craft room is now done!!  If you haven't already peeked, please take a look at My Scrap Room Tour  tab above.  I absolutely LOVE IT!!  And it couldn't have happened without him.  Ahhhhh -- true love  :)  for the last 34 years.  What a man!!

Turbo

I usually make cards for a specific person or event.  But today I just made this for the fun.  The movie Turbo is coming out soon.  Snails are an inside family fun thing -- I collect them from my sister's garden to use in our terrariums at school. My sister wants to get rid of them from her garden.  My son's girlfriend collects chatz-kity (??)snails. 

Over at There She Goes Stamps the challenge is to make a card or project creating a scene using animals!  I once again used the Slow and Steady set from There she Goes stamps.  

To create "Turbo", I covered the eye before stamping. I colored the body on yellow paper and cut him out, then added some shading with color pencils.  I embossed him again with white on blue paper, then added some shading with blue color pencils; cut this out and adhered to the main image.  Some red smooch trim, googly eyes, hand-drawn smile, and crystal effects for shine and dimension finished him off.

I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday.  I tried to make it as if Turbo was at the finish line of a race.  I didn't add a sentiment yet -- this might make a good "congratulations" or "you did it" type of card.

Oh Happy Day

 

 

My older son's girlfriend loves snails -- mostly the collectible kind; not the living ones.  This is for her birthday.

I used the sketch from Seize the Birthday and the colors from CAS-Colours and Sketches

 

 

To me, this sketch just screamed for a transparent window, with the snail going across. When the card is closed, you see the snail going across the front.  And he (she?) is still there when you open the card.  Placing the inside sentiment was tricky.  I could have put something across the bottom-grassy area, but I'll save that for a handwritten sentiment.  

I used the stripe pattern paper to cover the various papers from the front -- and only now realize I should have continued the green across  - - - oh well -- next time ? ?

 

I am also putting this on There She Goes CASE a Trendsetter Challenge - I choose Kim O' card with the cutest zebra.  She used cut-outs for the clouds, and I used the circle cut-out; and we used the same paper pack.

Happy Birthday (NBUS #4)

For the house-warming party I am having tomorrow -- many of the women attending are card-makers -- and they would probably love to be crafting more than partying -- or in reality they'd like to do both :)

So I thought I'd treat them to a "make and take"  -- I again used the colors from Color Throwdown ; and the sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday but I rotated it.

I "kitted" this card in both the caribbean blue (seen here) and in the pink -- to offer my friends a choice (or make both!)  I'll try to get some pix of the gang and the cards they made. 

I can't believe I made 2 cards in one evening (more if you count the kits I made) -- hubby is at his car club meeting and I got to play!  woop woop!

Gnome Sweet Gnome (NBUS #3)

I am have having a surprise house-warming (or re-warming) party for a friend who is finally moving back into her house after "Superstorm" Sandy (it was no longer technically a hurricane when she hit LI last October - but, boy the damage she did!). 
She is thrilled to be back home, but everything needs to be replaced.  She has the essentials (a bed!), but is realizing all the little things that are needed . . .

Paper Trey Ink: Make It Monday 122 - Polka Dot Texture

 

This is for my niece's birthday -- she absolutely loves horses.  Her birthday is this week (nothing like waiting till the last minute).  So when I saw the Polka Dot Make it Monday at Paper Trey , I knew I had to make an appaloosa horse. 

 

I used the colors from the CAS Colours challenge and the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments :

 

I am also linking this card to Card Makin Mamas: On the Farm challenge and since many teenagers love horses (my niece started when she was about 10), I will link this to Addicted to CAS: teenager
