White Choral Bells . . . Three-fer

While making these cards, I was reminded of a song I sang with the Girl Scouts.  It goes something like this:  "White choral bells upon a slender stalk.  Lilies of the Valley deck my garden walk." So I had to look it up.  Here is one version of it . . . a lot better sounding than the voices of a bunch of 10 year old girls :)

Did you sing this or other songs as a scout? Bring back some, hopefully, good memories?

I'm putting all these cards into the Twofer Card Challenge -
I got the Lily stamp set from PTI many years ago for a friend's new granddaughter, named Lily. I made a card then, but I don't' have a photo of that.

I stamped the Lily in black archival ink, and another in green archival ink, onto Vellum paper. I used color pencils on the back side to color the leaves and stems.

I used this sketch from TGIF Challenge for 2 of the cards.  I cut frames from MFT (rectangle) and the oval is from Poppy Stamps. Then I glued the vellum flower panel to the frame.  And added thin cut double-sided foam tape to pop it up a bit.

And I used this sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches for the blue card
Both sketches are very similar.  And I love the simplicity of both.  The biggest difference is the use of the lilies as a die cut and off-center for the CAS challenge.  I did flip the sketch.

I'm also putting this into The Flower Challenge - which is to use embossing: heat or dry.  I used a stylus to emboss each flower.  It is so cool how the vellum turns white when you emboss it.  No need for color pencils or ink.
And this Sending Smiles card is going into the NBUS Challenge - the clearly besotted stencil and carabelle text stamp have never been used.

I'm putting the Hello Spring Card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is to use LAYERS.

Here is look at the inside of 2 of the cards.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed making them.  A few days of color and create therapy was much needed!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe, and stay well.

  1. WOW - these are all beautiful! I love how different you've made the same stamp look. Thanks for joining us this week at CC&S!

  2. Three beautiful cards Carol and you definitely got a lot of use from the Lily stamp this time around! I have that same stamp and think it's been quite awhile since it's seen ink too! I love your tip too about using a stylus on the backside of vellum to get the white color...have to remember that! :0) Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Twofer Challenge!

  3. You've created a stunning threefer with beautiful choral bells. Thank you to remind me, how to get perfect white with dry embossing on vellum. It is very nice and elegant symphaty card, Vellum gives the softness. I like the design of the spring card. Nice frame. Thank you for sharing your cards at TCC this month.

  4. Absolutely beautiful creations Carol, I love that dry embossing of the flower petals, really gives the card that special finish. Thank you so much for joining us at The Flower Challenge and we hope to see you there again soon. Aileen DesignTeam

  5. These are all beautiful! You've brought a slightly different look to all three of your cards. Thanks so much for playing along with us at the CC&S challenge blog!

  6. I adore lily of the valley Carol and can smell their fragrance just looking at your cards! My favourite is the most CAS card, the With Sympathy card. Thank you for playing with us at CC&S this week :) Vicky x

  7. I don't know that song but then I am in a different country. Great use of that stamp though and really makes me think I should use all mine more. It's so pretty and very inspiring. x

  8. I'm glad the challenge gave you an opportunity for color and creativity, Carol! Your design is so lovely on all three different occasions and I love the details on each one! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #34 and sharing your Smiles card with everyone at NBUS! Take care and keep safe! Hugs, Darnell

  9. Such beautiful cards, love the inserts also, even the stamp looks so different with each colour. Love them. I don't know the song, but it sounds lovely.
