Happy Birthday Princess

This is for my great niece's birthday.  She is so totally into Princesses!!  Her birthday party is today. She is such a sweetie!

I paper pieced the image- added some bling of all varieties: sequins, Viva Décor glitter liner, and glitter paper, and Wink of Stella pen.

I am putting this onto Just add Ink - add color

At The Card Concept the challenge is to create a birthday card in one of six styles.  I guess this would fit best in the "clean and layered" style.
And last at Seize the Birthday the challenge is to use "toppings" - buttons or bling.  Well this card has bling!!

The stamp is from Recollections.  The die cuts are from Paper Trey Ink.  I colored her face and hair with Copics.  The pattern paper is (I think) for a Bazzill paper pack.  The silver glitter paper is from DCWV.

Thanks so much for looking.  Here is picture of the real Princess and the King and Queen

A+ Teacher

I decided to try another one-layer card. One of my friends just won "Teacher of the Year" at our school.  So this card is for her. When I first met her about 4 years ago, she was looking for a new hobby.  I introduced her to card making, and she's been hooked ever since!

I am participating at the Online Card class - and the technique I used is "Optical Illusion" - masking

I decided to look around for a "sketch" and found this at Pals Paper Arts . I don't know if you can see the embossed  lines around the panel of the books.  Then I used spica gel pens to give the "layers" a bit more definition.
I made this card first:
I am not sure which I like better.  I think if my masking was better on this card, it would be my favorite.  What do you think?

This will also fit for the challenge at Less is More - which is to use "3 of something".  There are 3 books, and 3 red sequins and 3 gold sequins (on the top card).

So Lucky

Woo Hoo!!  Another card for my Online Card Class -- Clean and Simple. The technique I used on this one-layer card, is masking.

To make this card, I made my own stencil.  I die cut 3  hearts, and arranged them together to create the shamrock effect.  I traced around it -- added the stem.  After I cut this out, I put it onto a sheet of plastic, and cut it out to create the stencil.
I die cut an oval for the sentiment placement.  I used Stampin Up ink to do a layer of sponging as a base color.  I have several of those $1 stamp sets, and used various shamrocks with various green inks to create the background.  The sentiment is also from one of these sets.

Once the stencil was made, this card came together very quickly!!
I am putting this into the following challenges:
1. Less is More - stencils
2. Use Your Stuff - monchromatic green
3. CAS on Sunday - One Layer
4. Come and Get It - St. Patrick's Day
5. Sweet Stamps - Lucky
6. Blue Moon Get Inky - Green or St. Patty's Day

And of course:
We celebrated St. Patrick's Day yesterday -- corned beef and cabbage, potato, carrot -- and great company!!  Hope you enjoyed your St. Patty's Day.

Thanks so much for looking, for your comments, and for following.

What Goes Up . . .

I am currently taking On Line Card Class - the theme of which is one layer cards.  One of the techniques is layered die cuts.  Woo Hoo!!  I did it!  I cut the balloons, and arranged them on the card.  Then I cut them out one by one, and layered them back into place like a jigsaw puzzle.  This is all one layer.

Now, I cannot really take credit for this design.  I actually saw a similar card in Spring CardMaker magazine by Emily Branch.  Hers was layered, and she used Paper Trey movers and shakers die.

The balloon dies are a mix of Paper Trey and Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment is from Paper Trey.

The balloons and striped paper were all from my scrap paper, so I'm putting this into Hiding in My Scrap Room (I love the name of this blog) -- the challenge is to use scraps.

Laurel Craft challenge is "Up in the Air" -- this fits.

And at Scrap It Girl the challenge is "Birthday".

Finally at Addicted To Stamps  - it is "Anything Goes".

This card is really pretty good looking in real life -- I need to put a bow where the ribbons connect, and perhaps some Wink of Stella on the balloons.  But my crafting time has run out.  Those touches will have to wait for another day.  And I want to get this posted.

How do the rest of you find time to craft?  My job keeps me so busy!!  When I get home, I'm exhausted -- and my children are all grown and moved out.  But this card was in my brain all day, and I made a point to get it done!!  Yipee!!

I will probably put this into the collection of cards I will be mailing to my "baby" sister who is turning 50 later this year.  I am so looking forward to pestering her :)

All for now.  Thanks for looking.  I love your comments.  Consider following me too!

SMILE

I am trying my hand at one-layer cards.
I searched for sketches that could be done in one layer -- and I found these two -- both very similar:

My Favorite Things and at Clean and Simple

I layered some die-namics form My Favorite things to create the "sketch".  The flower stamp is from Hero Arts and the SMILE is from Paper Trey.  I colored it with Inktense pencils then, used watercolor to blend the inks.  A couple of dots from Viva Décor pens. And done.
Pretty easy -- the hardest part was figuring out how to use the 2 dies to emboss the sketch I wanted.

The challenge at Less is More  the subject of your One Layer Card should be Spring Flowers.  I think this qualifies.

Also at the One Layer Simplicity the challenge is to use Watercoloring.

Thanks for looking.  I hope you like it.
