Chester's First Birthday

I just came across a challenge website that encourages cards for children.  They accept donated cards, and give them to hospitals for the sick children in the hospital.

 

It is Send A Smile for Kids This card will not qualify for this challenge, but I will certainly be looking to the future to do some cards for this worthwhile cause.  Please take a look, and consider sending a smile to a kid. 

 

365 Cards That's a First -- Chester (our mischievous grand puppy) just turned one.  His "parents" had a party for him.  So this is for Chester -- it could, of course, be used for a real birthday too.

I am also putting this on Addicted to CAS - The key word is "Pet".  While it is not really clean and simple, it is most definitely for a pet. 

Over at Sweet Stampin they are celebrating their 4th anniversary.  Check out the great cards there!

And at Wags n Whiskers they are looking at cards for kids.

The puppy stamp is from Inkadinkadoo -- it is actually a set for baby cards.  I colored him with copics, and added some flock to his ears. For real, he is a cute brown cock-a-poo with a white chest and toes. 

The papers are from Stampin Up.  I cut the die cut the balloon, added some crystal effects for shine.

Welcome Little One

Several people at my job are expecting babies.  One for sure is a girl, another is a boy, and the other is unknown (yet).

 

I loved this sketch from the  SketchBook Saturday Challenge.  And I really liked this elephant stamp (from Inkadinkadoo).  The sentiment is from an older $1 stamp set. 

 

                                      

So to make him fit with the sketch, I flipped the sketch upside down, so the elephant could be sitting on the stripes.  I stamped the elephant on gray cardstock, and used some Copics to give him some more shading and color.  I paper-pieced parts of him to create a bit more interest. Cut him out, popped him up.  Added some enamel dots.

 

The diagonal striped border was made from DCWV papers.  I simply cut strips about 1/4 inch and glued them in place, letting the edges hang over the cardstock panel.  Then flip over the panel to trim off the edges.  I had seen Jennifer McGuire do it on her blog, but I can't find the link right now.   I used some of the Goosebumps spray on the background, and some glimmer mist too.

Vintage Car Birthday

This is for my hubby's birthday.  He has a 1937 Ford Cabriolet -- which is his hobby. 

I got this stamp from a vendor at a car show.  It is his car!   He loves it, when I use his car on his cards. I stamped the car on clear plastic, then on blue glitter paper from DCWV.  And then cut that out, and pieced it on top of the plastic.  His car is this great dark blue color.
The balloon is a die from Penny Black.

I used the sketch from  CAS(E) This Sketch and the colors from   Colour Q .  The papers are from a mix of companies - the colors are from My Mind's Eye, and the "road-like" blue may be from DCWV, with some more stamping on top, and Goosebumps texture spray.

Over at Seize the Birthday - add texture.  I used "Goosebumps" spray, for the first time.  And it won't be the last!  Like its name implies, it leaves raised bumps, with a hint of sparkle.  The paper almost feels like leather after it dries.  Really cool -- I will definitely be using this again.

Retro Sketch x2

 

I love this sketch by Retro Sketches !!  It is just so very versatile!!  I hope to get to use this for some other cards this week.  It is so very easy!!  I made a template for the top piece, as it is not a right angle, but an obtuse angle (for all you math geeks, it is about 120 degrees)

 

I am putting the sympathy in a new to me challenge: Hobby Cutz which is to use lace and pearls.

Stamping Friends & LOTS of NBUS

I decided I just wanted to "play" with some things this weekend. The idea of this card has been rattling around in my head for a while. . .  but I never really committed to creating it - until now.

 

 

 I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketch

and the colors from Pals Paper Arts . 

 

 

I used lots of NBUS (Never Been Used Stuff) as per Darnell for this card.

The image is from Inky Antics.  The outside sentiment is from There She Goes stamps, and the inside sentiment is from Whipper Snapper.  (all three are NBUS)

 

I sprayed the white cardstock with Glimmer Mist, and used a Tim Holtz splatter mask with some watercolor paint (which added the coffee ring stains).  Again, all NBUS. 

The pattern paper and ribbon are Stampin Up.  The cardstock is from PTI.

 

Here is a shot of the inside - the image in the bottom left is the bottom of the stamp from the front.

WOYWW - seriously!!!

As some of you know hubby and I are puppy-sitting our 9 month old cocker-poo while our son and daughter-in-law are on their honeymoon. 
So -- I had just finished my OLW card -- I wanted to add a bit of ribbon to finish it off -- and I had been working at my dining room table, watching TV, (and drinking a glass of wine).
side note: I don't have a TV in my craft room (yet), and hubby wasn't home - so the dining room it is.   
I went to my craft room to try to find the perfect ribbon -- I guess it took a bit longer to find than I thought . . . I should have known he was too quiet  . . .

After getting him away from the wine, I needed to see if anything else had "suffered"  . . .

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this -- but it was cute -- after I cleaned up!
