Another Snow Day and a PTI Anniversary Challenge

Here on LI, NY we are in the midst of another snow storm -- they say it should change to rain - but it is coming down very heavily right now. They had predicted about 3 inches for my area -- we are up to about 6 -- ummm, yeah, ok -- Luckily for me, the school district I work at choose to close today - many others did not.

So I get to play today -- PJ's, Coffee, and Cards -- what could be cozier?

At Paper Trey Ink, they are celebrating their 7th anniversary.  Today's Challenge is to introduce Building Blocks . So the challenge is to go to 9 designers and randomly select a "building block" from the 6 choices.  I thought about "cheating" and just selecting what I want (as Nichole says, if you don't have something, you can select something else).  But as a hoarder  collector, I pretty much have everything on everyone's list.

So here is what I did truly randomly roll:
  • Ashely =  # 5 color Hawaiian Shores
  • Betsy = #4 color Sweet Blush
  • Cristina = #6 color Aqua Mist
  • Danielle = #5 neutral Soft Stone
  • Dawn  = #2 Sketch
  • Erin = #5 occasion - friends
  • Heather = # 1 technique misting (I misted the "friend" banner with a glimmer mist - but it doesn't show up in the photo)
  • Laura = # 3 embellishment buttons
  • Melissa - #6 fiber - seam binding
The stamps are Mendhi Medallions and the paper are all from Paper Trey.

I added the Aqua Mist color to the Medallions with color pencil. So this can also go into Addicted to Stamps Challenge which is to "Make your Mark" with markers, pencils, crayons, etc.

Over at  Crafty Sentiments - Buttons and Bows Challenge - this will fit for that too.

Buttons and Bows is also the challenge at My Time to Craft

And at Totally Gorguss the theme is "Sentiment as the Main Focus"

Here is a photo of a snow-covered tree in my front yard, and a view of my neighborhood.  I do like to see photos of other neighborhoods around the country, and around the area.  It is pretty, but heavy-to-shovel snow.

Hope you are having a good, nice-weather day.
Thank you for looking, for your comments, and for following!

Xmas Thank You - CAS(E) this Sketch

I need several thank you cards to use for Xmas gifts -- I probably should have made them sooner  . . . oh well.  This sketch from Cas(E) this Sketch is truly Clean and Simple.  It was a snap to put this together. It could easily have been a One-Layer card, but I do love my layers.  I was able to create quite a few in one afternoon.

The holly stamp is from Inkadinkadoo.  I am not sure about the other stamps.  I used Hero Arts Shadow inks. A bit of glue bead for the berries and done.

Thanks for looking.

Welcome Little One

Several people at my job are expecting babies.  One for sure is a girl, another is a boy, and the other is unknown (yet).

I loved this sketch from the  SketchBook Saturday Challenge.  And I really liked this elephant stamp (from Inkadinkadoo).  The sentiment is from an older $1 stamp set.

So to make him fit with the sketch, I flipped the sketch upside down, so the elephant could be sitting on the stripes.  I stamped the elephant on gray cardstock, and used some Copics to give him some more shading and color.  I paper-pieced parts of him to create a bit more interest. Cut him out, popped him up.  Added some enamel dots.

The diagonal striped border was made from DCWV papers.  I simply cut strips about 1/4 inch and glued them in place, letting the edges hang over the cardstock panel.  Then flip over the panel to trim off the edges.  I had seen Jennifer McGuire do it on her blog, but I can't find the link right now.   I used some of the Goosebumps spray on the background, and some glimmer mist too.

Here is a close up of each of the cards.

Edited to enter these challenges:
Crafty Sentiments - to use blue
Cutie Pie Challenge- create a "cute" card for babies or adorable people
Crafty Cardmakers  to use Paper Piecing
Squirrel and Fox - animal

These were great fun to make!!  And isn't that what it's all about?
Thanks for looking.  I hope you take the time to comment.
