1. One Layer Simplicity - "Attractive Opposites" - my opposites are the rectangular shape filled with the oval balloons -- Also the small print "happy" and the large cursive "birthday
2. CAS(E) this Sketch 104
3. NBUS Challenge #3 - hosted by Darnell at D J Kardkreations. I've enjoyed following Darnell's blog for several years now. I am sure you will enjoy it too!
4. Seize the Birthday - the "topping" is "PARTY" -- balloons are certainly needed for a party!
The original concept for this card design came from Susan R at Simplicity. She made this beautiful card. Susan always gives great design tips.
I also used this layout on two other cards that can be seen HERE . I just looked at Susan's blog again... she has also used this design again-- take a look HERE.
The balloon stamps are from PaperTrey Ink -- except the bows and "birthday" - I think are Avery Elle.
Christmas vacation is over. Back to work today. Luckily I really like my job. Teaching life science to a bunch of 11 year olds is a hoot!
As always, thanks for looking and your comments! I hope you are having fun at your job too.
Love that idea Carol, so clever! Hazel x
ReplyDeleteOh how clever...I love this design, must remember this because it is really awesome looking! Thank you for joining us at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card x
ReplyDeleteLOVE this!! The colors, the layout, the balloons - love it all!
ReplyDeleteNot exactly sure how you've achieved it, but those balloons are magical. Opaque yet transparent. A bit shaded. A total eyecatcher in the NBUS gallery!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I used Tsukeniko neon pigment inks -- I first stamped the balloon in the lighter shade, then partially inked the stamp in a darker shade and smudged it a bit before stamping over the first stamped image. That is what gave it the shaded look. Thank you for taking the time to comment!!
DeleteI love the bright fun colours and the overlapping stamping! So glad you joined us at OLS!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the "attractive opposites" challenge at OLS, Carol! That design is a keeper, for sure! All your cards and all of Susan's are outstanding using it! I love the colors and read your comment above to Maria about the genius way you achieved it ~ thank you for that! And thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #3 and for your kind words! Happy New Year!! Mwah! Darnell
