Number Birthday Candles

Hero Arts Birthday challenges - has many options -- I choose Rainbow of Colors -

I am also putting this into the Muse Challenge - I was inspired by all the colors --

I was also inspired by this card on Avery Elle

At  The Stamping Boutique ,asks that you use a punch or die cut -- There are lots of die cuts on this card!

At Seize the Birthday the challenge is Love -- use hearts -- or "anything goes".  I did not use hearts, but this card was created with Love --for my niece's 10th birthday.
I made this card for 3 different ages:
One is for my sister's 50th birthday, and one for my son's 30th birthday (his isn't until 2015) -- but I liked the design of this.
The dies are from PTI, the pattern paper is from Stampin Up.  I am not sure about the cardstock.

As always, thanks for looking.  Hope you are having a good day.

Another Snow Day and a PTI Anniversary Challenge

Here on LI, NY we are in the midst of another snow storm -- they say it should change to rain - but it is coming down very heavily right now. They had predicted about 3 inches for my area -- we are up to about 6 -- ummm, yeah, ok -- Luckily for me, the school district I work at choose to close today - many others did not.

So I get to play today -- PJ's, Coffee, and Cards -- what could be cozier?

At Paper Trey Ink, they are celebrating their 7th anniversary.  Today's Challenge is to introduce Building Blocks . So the challenge is to go to 9 designers and randomly select a "building block" from the 6 choices.  I thought about "cheating" and just selecting what I want (as Nichole says, if you don't have something, you can select something else).  But as a hoarder  collector, I pretty much have everything on everyone's list.

So here is what I did truly randomly roll:
  • Ashely =  # 5 color Hawaiian Shores
  • Betsy = #4 color Sweet Blush
  • Cristina = #6 color Aqua Mist
  • Danielle = #5 neutral Soft Stone
  • Dawn  = #2 Sketch
  • Erin = #5 occasion - friends
  • Heather = # 1 technique misting (I misted the "friend" banner with a glimmer mist - but it doesn't show up in the photo)
  • Laura = # 3 embellishment buttons
  • Melissa - #6 fiber - seam binding
The stamps are Mendhi Medallions and the paper are all from Paper Trey.

I added the Aqua Mist color to the Medallions with color pencil. So this can also go into Addicted to Stamps Challenge which is to "Make your Mark" with markers, pencils, crayons, etc.

Over at  Crafty Sentiments - Buttons and Bows Challenge - this will fit for that too.

Buttons and Bows is also the challenge at My Time to Craft

And at Totally Gorguss the theme is "Sentiment as the Main Focus"

Here is a photo of a snow-covered tree in my front yard, and a view of my neighborhood.  I do like to see photos of other neighborhoods around the country, and around the area.  It is pretty, but heavy-to-shovel snow.

Hope you are having a good, nice-weather day.
Thank you for looking, for your comments, and for following!

Paper Trey Ink - Anniversary Challenge

It is Paper Trey Ink's 7th Anniversary.  And they are having lots of contests and reveals.  I love their stamp sets, and have a few (actually a LOT!)  I've been reading the blog all week, and have been dying to try some challenges.  But working full time, does not leave me any time or energy to create at the end of a long day.  So today was the day to play!!  Woo Hoo!  I would really love 3-day weekends :)

This is for the PTI Monthly Moments Challenge .  PTI is coming out with new stamp sets and dies to create pieces for pocket scrapbooking trend.  The challenge was to create a flat 3x4 piece that could be used for a scrapbook.
My daughter-in-law just landed a leave-replacement school librarian job yesterday.  If I were a scrap-booker, this would be used for that.  But since I mostly make cards, I took the piece and turned it into a card.  Which is part of the beauty of the new sets by PTI.

I am also putting this into the PTI Day 1 Anniversary Challenge .  Sketch and Color download - PTI Anniversary challenge.  You need to use a sketch and a color challenge.
Here is the color
And the sketch looks like this:

I used the pen and pencils from PTI Happy Trails set.  I don't really have any PTI book stamps, so I thought these would be good for a librarian.

I am also putting this onto the following challenge:

Totally Gorjuss - sentiment as main focus

As always, thank you for looking.  And for your comments and for following!

PTI Make It Monday Snow Day

yippee for snow days -- not so nice to shovel -- but it gave me some time to play!
Here in the northeast, we are getting some more snow -- about 5-10 inches - of the thick heavy stuff.  I don't mind too much.  My dear hubby will use his mega-snowblower -- then I just trim out the walks and steps -- but we do several neighbors, as many are elderly (not that we are spring chickens, either!) so it will take some time.

I found these gorgeous colors at Color Throwdown and used this sketch from Clean and Simple (sort of -- I took a few liberties).

Since this snow-day is on a Monday, I got to play with Paper Trey Ink Make-it-Monday which is drop-shadow die cuts.
I made this for my sister . . .

anyway here is the list of supplies:
  • pattern paper and small butterfly punch : Stampin Up
  • pink cardstock, other butterflies and sentiment : Paper Trey Ink. The sentiment is actually part of a larger stamp -- I'll use the other part for the inside of the card.
  • some black embossing powder, pearls (some colored with Copic)
  • and done!
Thanks for looking -- now out to shovel some snow!
Oh- here is a pix of the most marvelous man in the world!  Hope you are having a bright and sunny day.
